What can Asterisk VQM test? VoIP? PSTN? Everything!

Hello again!

Very often when people hear about Asterisk VQM the first idea is that VoIP calls is the only what it can monitor. This is absolutely wrong! Asterisk VQM soluton consists of two parts:

- Asterisk – an open source software PBX that can work with different carriers depending on the hardware attached to the server

- AQuA – Audio Quality Analyzer that is doing perceptual (based on human perception model) audio quality asessment

So, please don’t get confused! If you need to:

- monitor call quality in VoIP

- monitor call quality in PSTN

- monitor call quality in a converged network

- find out whether voice quality degradation is related to your VoIP network or the problem comes from PSTN

- whatever else from voice quality testing and call quality monitoring…

Open source based voice quality monitoring framework – waiting for your wishlist!

Sevana is happy to announce development of an open source based voice quality monitoring framework based on AQuA and NIQA products for perceptual voice quality assessment in communication networks. You know already about Sevana Asterisk VQM Solution, so we decided to improve it by asking you of the features you would like to see in the product.

This is what we already know from our customers:

- blast dialing to evaluate voice quality depending on the calls load sent to the server under test
- extensive reports based on obtained call statistics
- call quality alerting
- loop back calls for various networks

Hi,

Now you have a chance to check AQuA powered Asterisk VQM test results straight from Sevana’s web site! The pages are organized in the same manner as they appear in the VQM Framework. You will see records of real SIP calls made by Asterisk VQM, check quality scores generated by AQuA, see the reasons for quality degradation, and listen to the actual audio to check the accuracy of AQuA MOS scores.

Test call data, MOS scores, reference and degraded audio, all information is taken from a real system doing VoIP QoS monitoring. Check it out:
